hey guys.
i need to find out the correct spoke length for a 24" MTX 4X (36H) rim on a halo DJD rear hub. i wanna lace it 3X. Anyone know the size of spoke i need?
i tryed the online spoke calculators but unfortunatly none of them had the MTX rim in their options.
thanks

finderd of the rim. looked on the rim makers site?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
E.R.D:480, 530
i still dont know what to do. sorry.
i guess as it is only made in 2 sizes; 32 and 36 the ERD is 530?0 -
ok so why are you asking? who is going to build the wheel?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
i am. i know how to build the wheel. just not what the spoke length is.
what does ERD stand for?0 -
christ! i was not allowed any where near a build untill i have worked out the ERD and the hub dims on about 20 builds.
well the smaller number will be the erd of the 24" rim. so that is one input. then you need the hub dimensions. and then the pattern/intersections 3X chose the nipple size (if using DT) and job is a good one."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Calm down mate. If i could have worked it out for myself i wouldnt have asked...
I cant find out the dimensions of the hub thats the thing.
I can build a wheel fine put it like that, i ride bmx is the thing and all odyssey parts i get for cheap. So i run all their hubs and rims for years now, all their spoke lengths are the same. But no one will tell me the info i need for free..0 -
could it be 135mm becuase thats the only number i can fiind that i dont know what it means?0
-
you need to measure the flang distances
http://www.wheelpro.co.uk/spokecalc/ click on hubs and scroll down to see the info you need.
in the meantime i will see if i can find the info. but dont hold your breath."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

thanks man. i was on the distros site
give me a break though, tell me what it is please.
clearly i dont posses half of your skill...0 -
come on it is not that hard and once you know how to do work out the info. the hardest part is working out the hub info. they have it on for their other hubs i will have to give them a boot."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

mate i really dont understand it.
hense why im askinjg for help.
can u help me or am i wasting my time?0 -
ok so i know this
HUB:
Flanges:
Diameter = 58mm
C-L = 34mm
C-R = 58mm
RIM:
ERD: 480
need to know. hub diameters. which are? 58?
hub offsets? 34 and 58?
rim diameter? thats 24 inch?
rim offsett? 480?
mate im clueless. im just used to getting the correct spokes and building the wheel..0 -
http://www.wheelpro.co.uk/spokecalc/hubmeasure.pdf
Read that, look at the drawing, insert measurements at wheelpro page and than press ENTER0 -
le. 228 mm ri. 233 mm
wheel pro give a similar figure. BUT give me a moment...."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
i get different C-L and C-R from the drawing.
and i dont have a hub to hand to meaure. so would not use those figures."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
yeh i finally did it with a lot of help.
left 227.9
right 229.7
spokes only graduate in 2mm? so 230 would seem sensible considering nicklouses results?0 -
nope spokes are available in 1mm steps. the world of disc brought this change.
But like i said above. from the drawing i get a differet set of numbers. for the Center to flange distances.
how much of a hurry are you in for what i would belive to be the correct numbers?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
Isn't this accurate?
Hub diameters
A. Left 58
B. Right 58
Hub offsets
C. Left 30.3
D. Right 40.8
Rim dia 480
Rim offset 0
Rim / Hub holes
From 36 to 36
I may be wrong but looking at the drawing this is what I got...0 -
i need to know by tomorrow morning at about 8 o'clock. so pretty soon. thansk for the help man. much apreciated.0
-
ROCHA and that is not what there is on the webby and i dont trust the drawing as there is no continuity in the measurements.
i had similar but not the same as you.
will look again."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
from the info available left 227mm and right (drive) 229mm"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
ok. i can olny get one size due to funding. 228? or what?0
-
neither 18 and 18 spokes cost the same as 36.
and as i said with the given info...... i would not build a wheel on that info untill i had measured the hub to check."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
ok. well as i need to know asap i will go with 227 and 229. i'l get them if possible. as im getting them from work i have to order in 50 spokes at a time. could i do it with 228? its a disc wheel so the only real issue is strength not if its super true or not.0
-
You could do it with 228, probably quite satifactorily if you are an ace wheel builder, but the experts will take the precise measurements for a better build.
Strength of wheel has more to do with build than its components.0
