But, can someone tell me who on earth is 'Nick Louse' and how someone who is apparently (at least to judge by his posts) a semi-literate, foul-mothed teenager got to be a moderator of this forum? To put it mildly, the instructional posts and replies from this individual do not exactly seem to have been taken from the pages of 'How to Make Friends and Influence People' and he does a rather good job of breaking his own rules everytime he posts...
People keep telling me what a great guy John Stevenson is and how he will do a good job of running this place. Maybe so. Perhaps he can show it by telling his moderators how to talk to the members in a way that isn't alternately patronising or downright rude.

Nick is a LEGEND. You simply wouldn't understand.0

I am new , but he seems fine to me.
Don't mistake directness for rudeness. And as for him being patronising..... i know about 2% of what he seems to know about bike maintenance... and even I can see some of the questions he gets asked are moronic and ill prepared.
more positivity please0 -
Nick is incredibly helpful. As for 'semi-literate', he's dyslexic, and as for 'foul-mouthed' (or mothed, which I laughed at), he's from Yorkshire :P

nick knows his stuff and i have never seen him give any false advice. The man is a tech god to be fair. If his answers are a bit short then its most likely that the question you have asked doesnt have enough info. eg what bike the cranks you want are for, or what type of riding you do etc, otherwise it may be that the same question has been asked many times before and is on a sticky or answered somewhere else on the forum.0

Nick is a tech legend, he may seem grumpy at times but he does get asked the the same questions over and over when people could just search, most of us will just ignore those threads. I have rarely seen him be outright rude to anyone, and his advice is excellent.
But for a long time I thought his name was Nicklouise.0 -
