Mech Hangers

First of all, what a pain these things are. My sausage fingers broke the hanger of my mates Marin at Glentress, trying to bend it back. I knew I shouldn't have even touched it! Then could we find the right replacement this side of Hadrian's Wall?? Could we heck!! There must be 1000s of different specs. Why are they not all one or even just a few different designs :?:  :?:
The cynic in me would suggest it is so the bike shop has to stock 1000s of them.
So to my question: I am going to purchase a spare hanger for my Stumpy FSR Elite 07. Does anyone know what model number hanger I need and where to get one online?

I have found Specialized uk very helpfull with small spares - even sent me pump fittings free of charge, so it might be worth emailing them - they may of course just refer you to a dealer, but you may be able to get the correct part number from them.0

Sounds like the hanger did is job properly, its a sacrifial component, not meant to be bent back. Ebay often brings up matches.0

Benefits of the "sacrificial part" is a Godsend.. my chain snapped at the weekend and then the rear mech hanger sheared..
Now need to source a rear hanger for a 2005 Gaint Reign 3 and a new chain before the coming weekends ride.
I agree with you about manufacturers having so many different designs too.. maybe someone will come up with a universal type and simplify things for use mere mortals!!There’s no panic like the panic you momentarily feel when you’ve got your hand or head stuck in something.. especially if you're going fast..0
