The reason I ask is that I always seem to damage my bike when out and about on trails etc! I have just bought a new bike a GT Zaskar expert and just after 2 rides she is not so well. Bike arived Friday did a quick 10 miles over Mach 1 ( in Machynlleth ) then we did the cli-machx route yesterday. Looks like the front rim is buckled slightly, both disks rubbing and one pedal making a racket! Is this normal it seems every time I go out there is work required when I get home .

In answer to your first question, no. You seem more like a vegetable.

Discs rubbing isn't that unusual, but a buckled rim suggests you need to learn to pick better lines (or lose some weight), and as for the pedal....

Pick your lines, ploughing into imovable objects will damage you and your bike. Use your arms and legs to absorb impacts, don't just rely on your suspension and tyres.

Bikes do require maintanence after each ride to keep them running at 100%. Keep on top of the maintanence and cleaning and it will be easier.
