XTR shifters and rear mech question

I'm running an m960 xtr rear mech with dual control LX shifters. Im getting rid of the shifters, cause i don't get on with them.
I'm changing to some xt rapid fire shifters but was wondering if i need a new rear mech due to the change from dual to rapid fire. Any advice will be appreciated .
