i keep reading this same phrase all over the forum in response to peoples problems with this place
"we know there are problems and we're working to fix them"
WHEN !!!
really, how long does it take to change the colour, come on, what are you doing all day, if this is your job to sort out the forum, do some work and fix it
i realise its only been a few days, but have you not noticed how quickly this forum is becoming dead, nobody is posting on here already and you have users from 3 forums combined, it should be really busy with posts all over the place
it needs sorting, quickly, or dont bother at all, close it

It's the weekend.
Most of the mods are volunteers and won't have the power to make technical changes to the forum software.
The guys with the Power Of Admin (eg the ones from Future/Sugar Street who get paid) are probably having a weekend off, same as the rest of us.
Don't confuse the mods with the people who actually own, run and control the site. It's as fundamental as the difference between Special Constables and the Home Secretary.0 -
I often work in web development and it is not the norm to have weekends off, certainly not when working on a new site, the job is 24/7 until it is completed. Saying "it is the weekend" is pathetic in my opinion.0

IT goons are our slaves and must not be allowed into their sleep holes until the world is made into a better place for our benefit.
Be patient and cut them (the volunteer mods especially) a little slack is all.0 -
Drfabulous, you shackle yourself to the screen until it's all 100% signed off? You're the first I've met in a decade if you do. And don't forget, Future might not have *paid* the IT guys to work 24/7 on a *free* extra. The IT guys might be chafing at the bit but told "leave it, come in on Monday." I mean if you were the purchasing guy, you'd want it *running* 24/7 but the extra cash it'd cost for 24/7 little fussing tweaks? I fail to see the business case.
It's not like this is a bloody patient-care system or Wiggle's order-matic, is it? Some sense of proportion is needed in the great unwashed. People are just whining for whining's sake.Wanted: Penny farthing. Please PM me!

I cannot understand why you should expect us to cut a little slack for the volunteer mods, it appears only one has been active and is adding to the problems with such quotes as....
"you lot" , "you dont seem to be very clever", "there was now how" :?: :?: "i cant be arsed", "probles", f*** knows" , "what hole did you climb out of?"
With regard to the changeover, "this has been very smooth", "this change is not going well"
It seems to me one of the mods is part of the problem.0 -
Snorri - because they won't have the power to make most of the changes that people are asking for. Remember when C+ dropped the readers ads section from the forum? I and the other user mods took endless amount of flack over that, even though we had bugger all to do with it and there was bugger all we could do about it. That's why I'm asking to cut them a little slack, because I know what it's like.0

Guys, yes we are working on all the design and organisation related issues, as much as we would like to have these all done in an hour flat the fact is it does take time. It will improve, it will get better. Just be patient, and stop with the abuse towards the staff. The moderators and admins generally don't have a lot of involvement with the design issues of the forums (with the exception of a few).
We are working our damned hardest to straighten out the loops but we do have an entire site to work on and improve, its not just the forums. We have targets and deadlines on all these aspects, so its simply a matter of time until we get the chance to sort the forums out.Web Designer & Developer

Then who bloody well does have lots of involvement?Alcohol, the cause of and solution to all of lifes problems!0 -
There are two types of admin on this forum, as there were on MBUK.
There are the admin who actually work on the forum, for Future/MBUK - MCole, CJ, Admin and whatever Tym was calling himself were these people.
There are also the user mods or admins, who's power extends as fare as editing posts and banning people. These are like myself, Alex, Wys, Nick, Whyamihere etc.
However much you complain, the latter have no powere whatsoever over the interface (or inner workings) of the forum - it's only the former.0 -

why has this forum gone live without being given much thought to the design, your going to lose a lot of long term users because of this, in fact you already have0
