hello was just wondering about the use of bits of old innertube to repair p******s, does anyone do it? i guess that it probably isn't the best idea for high pressure road tyres but what about lower pressure fat tyres, i have a couple of blown road tubes and as they are nice thin rubber was hoping to recycle them to fix the p******es on my housemates bmx,

Even I grew tired of doing this when good patches are so cheap:

but yes, you can do it.You have to roughen the surface very thoroughly by rubbing it on a stone floor( use of sandpaper could be regarded as extravagant) and apply a coat of glue to the patch as well as the tube.I never had a problem with ordinary holes.
The only situation I would do it now would be to mend a big hole if desperate as a temporary measure, so I put a bit of old tube in my repair kits.Such a mend is not to be trusted to take high pressure.

How about mending a latex tub? An unusual situation I know, but I think I'm going to have to buy a new latex inner tube just to cut it up to mend my tubs! Never mind, this is completely off topic really...<hr>
