What do others do when their frame gets paint chips in it? Just leave them, or patch up with car paint, cover with insulation tape...

Would be interested to know, so I can copy best practice.

Thanks

Steel or aluminium? Alu just leave them. Steel I copied the advice often given on here and use nail polish. Seems to work, I've got some scrapes going back 3 years and they haven't gone rusty.

I've used both nail varnish and car touch up paint and they both work equally well.

Clear nail varnish, and if really bad, a suitably naff sticker over the top.
  • Get rid of rust.touch up with airfix paint. Then nail varnish

    How about Humbrol paint?

Just used a Halfrauds car paint 3-pen (metallic) kit - Seemed good enough -
Nice touch, having an ultra-fine metal nib in the very top of the pens, or the standard brush - which just seemed to do the usual drip-paint-everywhere thing!
Came with a decent undercoat/build-up paint, metallic, clear lacquer, fibreglass rubbing tool, and spongy sanding tool.

Not cheap though, and not an exact match for my paint, either. You also need 3x24hours to do a proper job.

Was going to use Humbrol enamel with a normal brush, however these pens with their fine nibs work a treat.
