Well i was thinking of upgrading the forks on my orange crush 2006, the forks i want are Rockshox pikes, however they have the 20mm thru axle system, so my question is will i need a new hub, my current hubs are Shimano Deore Disc, also is it easy to replace a hub.
Thanks for the help in advance.

yes you will need a new hub and new spokes. just get a new wheel.

the spoke length is dependent on the size of the hub so you'll more than likely need new spokes as well as a new 20mm hub

building wheels is best left to the experts so as nick said ~ just get a new wheel

i just bought a new front from www.wheelpro.co.uk ~ £103 posted for a handbuilt XM719 on a Hope Pro II hub

My friend had a normal quick relase shimano deore hub on his front wheel when he had Marzocchi MX comps. He then upgraded his forks to Marzocchi 66s which require a 20mm through axle. He bought a Hoe Pro II hub on a Mavis EX721 Rim from Chainreactioncycles.com

I've heard that pikes are good forks so the money spent on the forks + the wheel will probably be worth it.

    Good luck.

If cash is a problem check Ebay for a wheel, remember you will be able to sell your old one to offset the cost.
