What do you think of the new Bikeradar Forums?

So what do we all think of the new Bikeradar Forums? The Bikeradar concept site is a good one, but the implementation so far is bloody awful.

Best advice I ever got was "better get a bike then"

I like the look and layout of the forums but there are too many categories. Will take some getting used to.

Considering you've only been a member since the bike radar forum was open, what have you got to moan about?

Its acceptable. Not perfect, but, give it time and I'm sure the bugs will be sorted out. For now it would be better if you just lived with it and stopped being such a pussy.

My first impressions are that the signal to noise ratio has dropped considerably. I may consider another forum for cycling if it doesn't improve :( . Oh and the new emoticons are a bit naff.... :(

If you equate moaning to having an opinion... call me a moaner. English Law may not have Freedom of Speach as a given right... but having an opinion is still okay... untlil they ban it for our own good.

But I am not fussed either way... there was a good crown at the old place, and I am sure there will be a good crowd here. As long as opinions are respected, if not agreed with.

Did you make insults in all of those 3 thousand or so posts of yours? Good way of making people ignore whatever you have to say....

This one is less active in the forums that I usually visit, possibly because there are so many other forums but I suspect that C+ posters just aren't liking it so much as the old one. Also it doesn't work as well, let's try BOLD for instance...

Perhaps we should have a London forum.
Perhaps we do, there seems to be one for everything else.

Ignore me all you want. I'm just trying to get on with the new forum whilst everyone else seems to be having a hissy fit about a few minor issues. It also pisses me off when the same points are raised again and again. Get over it.

Hairy Jock has got it right. The basic concept, all the various fora accessed through a single portal, was ok. The way it's been implemented makes it look as if all the fora have been squashed into one horrible mega forum with people from all over spilling into areas they wouldn't normally be seen dead in. There's a lot of technical Stuff, eg the BB code, missing post counts etc but that's all it is, Stuff, and it can be sorted. The real problem is the perception that each forum has been stripped of it's individuality and just tipped into a big blender along with all the others. That's a fault of the way that this site has been set up. Sort that issue out and the rest should fall into place.

Did you read and understand the subject heading, it`s a question and a poll. Someone is asking for opinions (though we only have two choices - an in-between such as "Not Bad" might have been a good idea). When everything is sorted out it will be as good as we make it, I think the potential is there.

It's like a PinkBike forum, except blue.

On the plus side, it doesn't have the mongtarded Americans/Cannucks, so we're not on a total loser.

Will take a bit of getting used to, though most of the sub-forums I'm interested in require little/no scrolling, which is nice :D

There's always room for improvement; for instance
I would like to be able to select which forum areas show as my default layer - I have no interest in MTB so would like to deselect.
I would like commuting to have it's own layers.
I would like a larger font and a bit more definition between the written page and the back ground.

Oh you think you are so bloody clever. I was on the other forum under another name and this one.The move botched up this name so I had to re register this name and lose my posts [snip][/snip].

All things aside, the current tally in this poll is overwhelmingly negative. Has to make those who run this sit up and address that, I'd have thought.
  • Im in the middle but think it has potential. We didnt get many posts on pro cycling but no one moaned oops I shouldnt have said that  Lets give it time it can only improve.

    Could it get any worse?

Then we get told to stop moaning.

He's actually wrong. This name got botched in the transfer and I did have another name which is over 3 years old and that I dont use anymore.

I can't see why we cant moan though. :(

In fairness it has to be said that about the only improvement on the new site is that it lets members carry out polls like this.

dont like it, prefered the older forums that in my opinion werent broke, miss the old gang and hope someone sees sense soon and reopens it before we all move on.

given it a try and its just too big, its a bit like shopping at tescos when being used to shopping in your local shop, the personal service has been lost and tis a poorer community for it. will give it another few weeks to impress but not looking likely

In all honestly, i think it's shambolic.

There appears to have been complete disregard for the existing members of each respective forum. It's a well known fact that they don't mix well, hence why there were 3 forums in the first place.

I also can't see that issue ever being resolved. The C+ guys and girls don't like being near the bottom of the forum, which is fair enough. But if they were moved to the top, everyone else would be annoyed.

I'm still also waiting for answers as to why they couldn't have tested the beta version while keeping the existing forums still open, rather than force everyone to use it or go somewhere else, which is would appear most people have.
