Right, last night I had a mother funking brain wave of an idea.

I'm going to turn the brick/concrete shed/air raid shelter thing in my back garden, into a climbing/bouldering wall. Seriously, awesome idea or what!

Annnyway, it's gonna be more about technical shiznit and going across as opposed to up, seeing as it's not all that tall, but what I need to ask you lovely lot is....... other than ebay, where are good places to get the holds from? I found customholds.com which looks pretty good- 68 holds + tee nuts etc for £90.... is that good? Seems comparable if nowt else to ebay?

Alternatively, where might I be able to find some second hand gear? Cheers me lovelies

You're on the wrong forum - try ukclimbing.com, got lots of climbers and bulderers on it!

It's in the off topic so he can put what he wants...

Anyway, put some pics on so we can see it - the idea sounds OK to be fair :)

Great idea! I used to pay £7 a time to use the rockface when it was open. Some big climbing shops I've been in in the past sell them but it depends where you live. I'm sure a lot of them will offer mail order. Other than that there's the kind of trade places climbing centres use.

Your biggest problem is making sure they're in the wall properly. It doesn't take much to pull something out of a wall if it's not the right material. My heavy bag lasted around two minutes in the last house we rented when it ripped the bracket that was already up clean out of the garage wall when it got a bit of a swing going. The bricks actually broke apart leaving the bracket bolted together and intact. Someone swinging off or pulling up on a climbing grip puts a lot more pressure on it than there actual weight.
