I want to buy some clip in pedals for my MBT as i will be doing alot of commuting and i don't know anything about them. What advice can you give me??
I want to get the pedals and shoes as cheaply as possible (probably ebay). Whats the difference between Look, Shimano M520's or 540's, and all of the other makes of pedals?

I have the M520's and I love em. £17.50 from Merlin, sorted.0

I also have some M520s and they work like a dream. Never would have though such a cheap set of pedals could be so good.___________________________________________________________

I ride with Shimano M-424s. I mainly commute, but they also get swapped onto my dually for MTB duty once a month.
If you will be commuting - don't discount the benefits of a cage. That way, you can fly off when the lights turn green without having to think about clipping in - and clip in once you are safely thru the intersection. (Of course... if you want a bit stronger, try M-540 or M545, but my M424s are two years old and going strong!)Commute - MASI Souville3 | Road/CX - MASI Speciale CX | Family - 80s ugly | Utility - Cargobike0 -

I have M324s, which have an SPD clip on one side and a "normal" pedal on the other. Although I wear my proper cycling shoes for my commute and "planned" cycle rides, I find it handy to be able to pop to the shops with whatever I happen to be wearing at the time. Cost about £30. The shoes were more expensive, and don't forget to add in the cost of the cleats themselves, shoes noramlly don't come with them included, still less fitted. It's money very well spent though -- a much more secure feeling, and a more efficient ride.0 -
Don't the cleats come with the pedals??"Come on you Greens"0

Which pedals need two holes on the shoe and which need three?"Come on you Greens"0

The M520 pedals come with cleats that have 2 screws for fitting into the bottom of the shoe, a set of Viper XXX Mtb shoes on CRC dont cost alot and are great for using with them. Also the M520 pedals you can get plastic clip in parts so that you are able to use them with normal shoes aswell. Very versatile pedals.___________________________________________________________
