should be ok seems to be draining well except for a small section at the end. It is very good but long long long. about 24 mile all way round. You can join it half way through. Take plenty of food and watta etc. :PMe http://www.flickr.com/photos/8779009@N03/622132744/

Thanks,
May give it a go tomorrow as everywhere in east yorkshire seems to be a hub deep bog at the moment.
Very smart bike GYP, makes my stumpy look a bit sad.0 -

On me tod,
Only got back into mtb over the last year or so, mainly hack around the bridleways in east yorks with my next door neighbour.
He's busy sat morning but I'm sure I'll find someone to tag along with.
Will be leaving from main car park about 8.30 . Need to be out early as my kids have different parties in afternoon so me and the missis get to go to one each, can't wait :roll:0 -
Probably heading up there Sunday with a mate - not been for a couple of years so guess it's going to be a big improvement on last time - hope the sun shines - not seen much of it lately - just a lot of the wet stuff!0
-
i have been up a few times on my own when mates dropped out and always end up taggin a long with someone or a few who like me like to rest on stages...
I'm hoping to go to Wharncliffe in morning meeting Daxion. Thats a good area to ride in.I If your going up again drop me a line and if i'm about i can meet you there. Bit later than 8.30 am though :?Me http://www.flickr.com/photos/8779009@N03/622132744/

Its a massive improvement. What mtb said it was one of the best trails its testers had ridden anywhere in the UK in this months mag or last month. Can't remember which.. £7 in though now...ouchMe http://www.flickr.com/photos/8779009@N03/622132744/

Yeah I have just been reading the Forrest Enterprise website and seen the charge. Is there anywhere nearby to park and ride in? Thats wha I do at Thetford to avoid the £5 charge there!0

Went last Thursday and Sunday, not really any serious mud to contend with, it's really well drained. Had loads of fun, hope you do too, take enough water with you, I didn't the first time.0
-
Bit too much for me I'm afraid - o.k. generally - but suffering from a lack of getting out on the bike - to ride well, you have to ride!! Obviously been doing far too much road biking and running rather than being out in the mud and the gloop on the mtb!! :oops:0

Does nyone know where I can find pics/vids of the red and/or black run? I'm sure i looked at some the other day but damned if i can find where now!0

think im doing the red route on saturday (21st) should be goodIt is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness0

I had the pleasure of doing some of the red route with my 8-year old on my hardtail in the rain on Sunday before someohow getting lost (no map!) and ending up on a walkers footpath. Unfortunately there are arrows for walkers and mtbers and if you don't know this you can end up riding along walking routes! Anyway the rain made some of the red route quite slippy (like some of the rooty and rocky bits) but on the whole it was pretty solid underneath. Seemed like a good route and will definitely go back with the full sus!Commencal Meta 5.5.1

I think Dalby red route is cracking. Im desperate to go again. Prob is i'm car-less which is a pain. If you don't fancy the whole 37km, get a map from the bike rental shop and cut it short. A really good ride. If you start at Dixons Hollow don't panic. That first 1/4 is the hardest where is joint with the black. The number of drop off dramatically reduces after it leaves the black.
There are some sections built with rocky/clay stuff
Which gets a bit stuck in your cleats!
Think if we ever had a proper dry spell it would be damn fast though. Still much fun, regardless how wet it gets.
Go, enjoy and smile0 -
Hi all,
Does anyone know where to access the route maps online..?
Cheers

Yes.
Go HERE
This is the most current map, although in the future it will be updated as there are still some sections to be finished and added into the route.http://www.singletraction.org.uk

Och well looks like we did the hardest parts then - it was good fun but a little bit sketchy for my son. I'm not sure his Ridgeback MX24 forks are up to much to be honest and at Dixon's Hollow he was already eyeing up the expensive looking machinery and cool gear on show...expensive business kids and mountain bikes.Commencal Meta 5.5.1

yep thats what ill be doing on saturday :P getting something a bit expensive and new please the 'rents ehIt is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness0

I see why we went in an enormouse circle. We were on the red route and wanted to try and easier route so followed the white arrows on a green background thinking they were the green route. In fact according to that map they mean Shorcut back to Start. The signing is confusing at best in Dalby Forest. There may even be signs for walking routes of different colours because for some reason we ended up on what seemed like footpaths through thick plantations rather than cycle routes when following these different types of arrow.Commencal Meta 5.5.1

i really like what they have done with dalby ive ben lucky enough to do the full red & black runs a 8/9 times this year both in the blisteringn april sunshine & the wet july. it is certainly quicker & more enjoyable in the dry but to be quite honest there is only the skinny,s at dixon,s holow & the first of the large dips that are dodgy to ride when its wet or been wet,i went full pelt straight down the first of the dips on the new raised sections the other sunday & came a littl unstuc kas the water came up to my knees.i would also recomend starting from dixon,s hollow makes the finish that little bit easier.0

i too have been around half a dozen times now, living in leeds means it's only an hour away and i bought the annual pass which i went halves with my riding buddy on so we get in free for the whole year and can use it as many times as we want. if you want to park up and ride in i recommend going in the scarbrough side as your at the top end where dixons hollow is and the best place to start from. if you ride in via the visitor centre you have a bloody great big hill to ride up for about 5 miles before getting to the bike park your knackered and and in no state to hit the hard bit of the red run!!
there are some bloody big jumps about 2 thirds through after going down a bobsleigh type run, full susser is the best option for dalby without a doubt as there are a lot of grin induced berms, drop offs and jumps to blast on.
also a good warm up is a couple of laps of the 4x track at dixons hollow, just to check everythings ok on the bike before descending the red route and realising your brakes dont work.0
