According to fast Food Nation (the book, dunno about the film because I haven't seen it), although Subway come out on top in any survey concerning the healthiness of fast food and cleanliness of outlet, they consistently come out worst on how they treat their employees. All Subways are franchises, so this will depend greatly upon the franchisee who holds the branch you are working in; but since they're known for treating the franchisees exceedingly badly, chances are the boss is going to be pretty unhappy and annoyed all the time, which obviously creates an unpleasant working environment and they're going to take out their frustrations on their employees, in that time-honoured way of bosses worldwide.
