Single Speed Chainset

I'm going to go over to a single speed chain set on my Carerra Fury (06 model). Are there different sizes, or are they all a universal fit. I don't want to particuarly lose any top speed (my fastest is 41mph), please ignore my technical ignorance, any advice would be gratefully accepted.

jsut remove the rings you dont want on your current set up.
but you many need to rethink the top speed as you wont enjoy to high a gearing.
just try leaving it in top for a while."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

i leave it in top all the while, never use bottom 18 gears. Just wanna jazz bike up, whilst losing some weight off bike. But don't know if I went out and bought new single speed if it would fit, and could I increase top speed?Where'd that bloody Deer appear from?

hang on here you dont want to single speed it. you want to go to 9 speed.
to save weight. so what will you lose. one shifter and a couple of rings.
you will need to keep the mech locked out or fit a chain device of some type or you will be losing the chain often.
Whay is your current crankset?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

take the rings of and put the outer on the middle position. you will need spacers on the crank bolts and my have to do a little filing of the ring.
or it is new cranks and bb as there are not many powerspline compatrable cranks."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
