Dear Sir,
Thank you for your e-mails dated 29 June 2007 and 6 July 2007.
With regards to your questions, the Public Carriage Office has no
legislative powers to investigate Road Traffic Offences (RTI's) caused
by London taxi drivers, this is a matter for Police to investigate.
However, if a taxi driver is abusive to the person involved we can then
investigate as a behavioural complaint. It is made clear to the
complainant that we are unable to investigate RTI's but can deal with
the abuse they received.
RTI's are logged onto our complaints complaints database. If a driver
is convicted by Police and we are informed, this is when the conviction
is placed on the drivers personal file.
I hope this answers all your questions.
Kind regards
Miss Hailey Sturgeon
