expalain? the measured outside diameter of the tyre size or the ERD?
why are you asking? oh and it is not 26""Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

The typical 26" rim has a diameter of 22.0" (559mm) and an outside tire diameter of about 26.2" (665mm).

Good old wikipedia, though probably completely untrue.I'M RATHER PATRIOTIC0 -
not the response i was expecting to be honest! i expected a load of idiots to say 26" you ****. i was just raising the point actually, because i find it rediculous that a 26" wheel (or 24 or 29)actually has no measurement that is 26". i guess it's just an assumption that with the tire fitted the wheel wont be more than 26". crazy0

Many moons ago bike tyres used to be a pretty standard size, about 1.9 I think but may be wrong on that. Anyway 26" is the approx diameter with the 'standard' tyre fitted. Yes it seems stupid in a way but most people understand it. It is however frustrating when some fool customer measures his wheel, order 22" tyres (which are hard to get), and then blames you when they don't fit, although why anyone would measure a wheel rather than read the sidewall of the old tyre is beyond me.0
