Ah made it over successfully.

So, still can't decide:

Halfords GT for £850 or
Spec FSR disc for £800

The Spec is lighter but has less than perfect Hayes Sole brakes, the GT a bit chunky but better spec generally.

I might try and haggle again with Halfords, any other thoughts?

Well, what riding do you do? How big/heavy are you? If none of these questions are relavent to helping, then it probably comes down to personal preference on the looks/colour etc. Oh, and price of course. The £50 gets you spares/tools/new lid/beer/etc etc.

Well its actually for my son - I am 11st, he is a lot less!

Riding is not too extreme either, some logs, small jumps (3ft max).

I guess from writing this its reinforcing the fact that a big beefy bike is not really needed.

The only downside on the Spech is you cant drop the seat very low. Wouldn't bother me too much, I have the same situation on my Stumpjumper, but maybe for a younger rider not ideal.

    Decision made!

Another haggle with Halfords including highlighting a significant paint scratch on the frame and a deal was done.

Picking it up next week, after pay day ;o)

Hmm, so Corn Flakes packet gives you 10% off anyway!

Maybe I should now negotiate for a better discount than the 10% I got without the help of Kelloggs !
