Buy a china piggy bank and put 50p in everytime you are tempted to have a fag, and £1 if you actually have one! Even if you fail you will have a nice night out!
Now that sounds like a bloody good idea!

Sorry to hear about the sh*t you were getting off your husband, glad you had the balls to leave him though. I see too many women stay in stupid relationships.

You've gotta be stubborn, I found it bloody hard, one day at a time & all those cliches. Didn't feel confident that I'd cracked it & that I wouldn't go back till i made a year!
That will be 15 years on Oct 18th, & not just taking into account the health issues but if i'd averaged a pack a day over that time span @ what is it £4.50 a pack then i've saved by my reckoning approx £24,570 :!:

And it does feel great when you think like & are a non-smoker 8)

I went travelling... on a budget... by the time I got back - I was a non smoker... AND (which helped enormously) was the fact that this govt's finally banned smoking in public places... which (for me) was the biggest problem... social smoking in pubs and stuff...

...still I've yet to test myself fully on that one.

I haven't smoked for almost 5 weeks now. Sounds harsh but i avoided my friends for the first couple of weeks when the cravings were worst.

I've found changing my routine helps - at times when you would normally smoke do something different - cravings don't last that long if you can work through them.

It is worth it though you do feel better quite quickly.

    Good luck
I hate it when people say David Beckham's stupid...its not like anyone ever says: 'Stephen Hawking - he's s**t at football.' Paul Calf

Well, I've decided to give up smoking. Blood pressure was scary high again the other day.
So far it's been a whole, smokeless day.
Feeling kind of odd though, not tense, just at a loss as to what to do.

Anybody else been through it? what would you recommend to take your mind of smoking?

    So, how's it going?

I'm suprised no-one has mentioned the Allan Carr books, they are great for helping with the psychological side of things.

Smoke free for 5 or 6 years, no cravings no withdrawal,

    Keep it up.
