9 speed cranckset compatability?

I am thinking of purchasing a shimano deore 9 speed crank set http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=799and am wondering if it would be compatible with my current 8 speed mech and casette set up. Cheers.

that link leads to a non listed item but there shouldn't be a problem cause the front and back are generally independant of each other as long as the chain is compatable.

Yeah should be alright. I'm running a 9 speed crankset with 8 speed.
