This may seem like a silly question, anyway here it goes, what would happen if I were to DJ with ETA active to lower a fork from say 130mm to about 100mm with the help of air preload and a hard compression setting to stop the eta locking down to 30mm?

I doubt you can get the efect you want. Besides it wouldn't probably lower to 100mm and it would put too much stress on the damping parts and seals. I guess lowering the forks would be the way to go, but I don't know how that would afect eta. Take a look at this: http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12535074
