Hey guys
Whilst asking for the cheap german website with these two on, someone noted that they wear quickly, Given that I'm riding alot on roads and flat bridlepaths at the mo (lincolnshire does nt offer much in the way of hardcore trail riding!)
Is this true, don't want to pay more for a tyre that wears out after a few rides, also, are they re alternatives for summer tyres that don't wear excessivly, was thinking panaracer razors or michelin dry's

well asthe ralph tyres are available in 2 compounds. which is the ones they are complaining about?
nic's seem to be only tripple this year."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

My nobby nics wore down very fast. They also wore down in a dodgy manner, the sideknobs started to come away from the main tyre casing, causing the tyre to start washing out.0

You should be able to get info ok on www.schwalbe.co.uk. Nobby Nics (and any Schwalbe Evolution tyre) are triple compound - carcass, outer knobblies and centre knobblies all different compounds. I think Racing Ralph falls into this category too but you`d need to double check.
I`ve used Nobby nics without any premature wear and do a fair proportion of my riding on tarmac (too bloody much !). I`m going to put a Racing Ralph on the back if the summer arrives !
I think the Schwalbe tyres are ok for wear as long as your using them for XC. If you crash over rocks and do a bit of All-mountain/freeride then you need something more heavy duty !
I`ve been very impressed with mine for my style of riding.0 -
Just dont take Nics any where near rocks or tree debris, the sidewalls are paper thin and cut faster than the edge tread disintigrates. WOnt be going on any of my bikes again
Panaracer Rampages or Cinders would be my choice for Summer (as well as Spring and Autumn), 2.1, good grip, not to bad on tarmac, wear well and much stronger (2.1's)Marin Mount Vision 2005. Fox RL100/RP3. Hope Pro 2/Mavic XC717/DT rev. Cinders 2.1, XTR, Lots of bling
Cervelo S3 2011. Mavic Cosmic Carbonne SLE. RED. Q-rings, lots of bling and very light!0
