Given the same hubs and spokes, what is the difference between a wheel set built with Open Pro or CXP 33 rims? Would one be better for riding a sportif?

The 33's will be heavier and stiffer than the Open Pros.

As for which is better, depends on the profile. If flat or rolling, the 33's might be a better bet once you roll 'em up to speed. Anything else, the Open Pros will be superior.

Thanks. I've been planning to get some new wheels based on Open Pro rims, but was distracted by an add for CPX 33s at about the same price.

Standard practice seems to be Open pro for racvy set-ups, and CXP33's for Audax bikes.

If you are a big rider, or particularly powerful, CXP33 might be a better idea. Open Pro are light - better for climbers.

For 80% of people, either would do - it comes down to choice - lighter or stronger.
