With the milram train behind him Zabel must surely be considering another Green jersey?

He can still slam the hammer....and he has shown an appetite for victory this year......

McEwen will win it unless DQ'd from a stage (not unlikely)

With the other sprinters that are also in the Tour I think his chances are not good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would love to see Zabel win a green jersey again! Him or Boonen.

not sure he's got the fizz for winning stages, but he will be there at the end. Not sure he will get enough points along the way :)

    Don't think so.

    Gotta be 1 of 3.

    Boonen, McEwan or Hushovd...

I'm not even gonna bother looking beyond McEwen.

McKewen is the most entertaining rider - he gets my vote for the green jersey. That kid comes out of nowhere with no team help and still gets the stage. And - when he wins one stage, he is likely to win again within the next few days.
Yes - he is cocky, but he is so small his bravado is comical.

    Yep, McKewen in Green.

You can't go past McEwen, even having lost his lead out guy. Boonen will be totally humiliated on the line yet again, Robbie will win about 3 stages (and maybe DQ on another), but keep your eyes out for JJ Haedo (CSC) in the mix.

I'm saying Zabel can get Green - he's been on form, I reckon he's got the fire to prove himself after tainting his reputation about '96, and he's always there to pick up points on hilly stages when the other sprinters are being lazy.

And I think another old boy will take the spotty jersey in the shape of Moreau.

    McEwen.

What is it with Zabel's hair? That's one of the stangest German barnets I've ever seen.

I don't understand why Zabel's riding at all. I can't think of another rider who's confessed to doping and hasn't had a two year ban. And there doesn't seem to be any talk about taking any of his green jerseys away either. I don't mean to turn this thread into a debate on the rights and wrongs of doping again but I just don't understand the logic here.

Anyway for me it's McEwan. He just gets himself into the most unbelieveable positions on the sprints. You struggle to see him at all on the run in and then all of a sudden there he is crossing the line in front. Amazing.

It's a fair point... I think they definately treated Riis differently, no matter how bad we all dislike Riis... Maybe it's because Riis didn't cry :? . Still, Zabel admitted to doing it 8 years ago but said he stopped doing it back then. I believe theres some rule that after 8 years you cannot get suspended. It's a little strange, but I guess they know he's on the verge of retirement and instead of creating a big issue they'll let him ride and then retire after this year.

"I'm proud of my 12 stage wins on the Tour de France but my chances (of winning more) are not as good as they used to be. Maybe I'm getting a little old," Zabel told AFP.

"I'm really more of a lead-out man for Petacchi. I really have no choice, but I think he is the fastest in the world."

He was tipped to do something in the Giro too though wasn't he and was completely invisible. I reckon on form this year Napolitano has more of a chance of breaking the monopoly of the usual winners - and of course Cav.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
