Bike screwed after only doing 100 miles, only picked it up from the LBS on Saturday after they had repaired it (kind of).
Anyway stuck on the middle ring and still managed a top speed of 35mph, and an average of 15mph (including stopping time) on my 13 mile commute in rush hour traffic. I think that's not bad!!!!

Doesn't sound like you really need the big ring anyway.
Isn't this something that you can fix yourself? This post contains traces of nuts.0 -
I've tried and broke my shifter!! cost me £90 to have a new one fitted. 2 different bike shops have had a go, the first bike shop gave me my bike back in bits (some of the bits in a carrier bag!) To be fair the second bike shop have told me to bring it back in and they will adjust it, it's just a tad frustrating!!0

Thats pretty poor if LBS can't fit a shifter, though maybe its faulty. What may have happened (I have done this myself) is that the cable nipple isn't located properly in the shifter. The cable can get folded around the mechanism so when you use the shifter the cable just slides back and forth without doing anything at the business end, so to speak.0
