Im in outrage catherine tate as the Dr's new assistant for the fourth series, i was informed he would get a sexy hot assistant and shes about as an attractive as my big toe!!

Good news is freeman will turn up in Torchwood and will be back halfway through the new series just hope they bring her back sooner!!

so what do you all reckon good or bad new assistant??

Why not, the series could do with lightening up a bit like the dr who of old, should make the new series a bit different, the third series was too similar to the second for my liking.

not tate!! not pretty at all!! i want piper back!! much better than agyman or however u spell it! but yer agrreed, they could do with some new baddies rather than cybermen and daleks. seeing them keep coming back isnt shocking any more

Think they probably could do with getting off earth, whatever century.

Seems most episodes have either been on earth or on a spaceship.

As to the writing I think the twist with John Barrowmans character shows they are thinking of long term plot developments rather than one or two episodes at a time or even one series at a time.

The series has got a history, so bringing back the occasional old ‘classic’ villain isn’t necessarily bad. We’ve still got Sea Devils, Ice Warriors, Silurians, and the no neck Sontarans…… Nice to see how they’d change with modern prosthetics etc.

I kind of wish though that they’d have more big plots. The originals had stories that took 4 or 5 episodes to get thro. They seem to be going that way considering the way the ‘family’ fed into the return of the master and the series finale.

Got to agree with having a bad feeling about Catherine Tate, good casting as a novelty for a one off, but all 13 episodes???
