I've got a new carbon quill stem, and am planning to install it on a bike with steel threaded forks that currently has an alloy stem. Do I need to clean the existing grease from the steerer, and if so, how? Also, do I need to use any 'magical substance' when fitting the new stem - special grease, anti-seize stuff, etc?
