not really posible. screw in the b screw.

or get a sram one. but if you are doing that get a tensioner.

it can be done i've seen it done on my friends trials but its something to do with the spring you take it out or somthing or twist a thing in the part which the alan bolt goes through to hold it onto the frame.

    This may seem weird...
Has anyone ever tried to pre-load the rear mech spring one full turn? Can it be done?

some people have been known to remove the spring on the knuckle joint (attaches to frame) and the C clip position it and tighten.

no idea. i would just get a tensioner and not ruin a mech. or live with the b screw fully tensioned and the odd knock.

to be honest i'm not bothered about the mech its just an old deore.
i just havnt got the money for a tensionor and all that at this moment in time so i'm trying to find a cheap solution.

What about what I've asked? Can it be done? Can the part where the b screw bolts be turned backwards one turn thus increasing chain tension?
