Bad foods

I've recently started to try and get alot fitter and all that and can realy feel the benefits already. I eat healthy and have alot of fruit. The only thing that is bothering me abit is the effects of cake and biscuits. My only allowances is either a few slices of maltloaf a day or a danish. I'm not expecting (or hoping!) it to cause a huge problem but i keep wondering everytime I eat one if im gonna notice the difference of eating them or not. If the difference is big then I might have to stop but if its only small then I wont! Hope that makes sense

Aaah Sod it! It's only a bit of cake. If you completely starve yourself of it you will only end craving it and then going on a massive cake fest which will be bad. IMO Malt loaf is a good energy food. I take it with me on all my rides. However, I'm not a nutritionist.

If you are getting fitter/slimmer/whatever when you are eating the odd danish then why worry about it. If you force yourself to do without then it will feel like you are punishing yourself and then you will begin to resent your new lifestyle. This is the reason that the majority of diets fail.
IMHO I would just carry on with what you are doing if you are acheiving your goals....0 -
you can get "healthy" cakes but still loaded with sugar can't you? like those tasty elevenses which are meant to have less fat and fortified with vitamins and they're really cakey just like the horses say0

Genius! If you cut them out completely youll start to binge! Be flexible and use them as rewards. If you do a bigger ride whatever you get more cake!0 -
Hmmm... I don't eat bad food but crave for a big chocolate every few days! Is it because my body wants sugar after all the riding?
And yes, if you eat healthily and ride, I think you can treat yourself to whatever you want every couple of weeks... That's why I have my beer+kebab days now and then!http://tinyurl.com/357krj The mud hog0 -
max, don't be ridiculuos! The odd piece of cake and biscuit isn't going to do you any harm, you certainly won't 'notice the difference' if you ate them or not. Eat in moderation. Take all the healthy eating crap in the media with a pinch of salt.0

My only concern about your diet would be the alarming absence of vegetables
Also, 30-60 minutes after exercise is the optimum time to refill your glycogen stores for your next ride. After that, it's harder for your body to do so and any carbs are more likely to be stored as fat (allegedly). Straight after exercise is not really the optimum time to be drinking squash and eating ice cream Not saying you can't have it, but straight after a 40 mile ride, you should be thinking about refuelling.
I don't know how tall you are or how much excess weight you're carrying, but that doesn't look anything like enough to eat after a 40 mile ride. It's no wonder you're still hungry. Did you not have lunch?
Maybe swap the cheddars for power bars.I ride like a girl

hey there's a banana in there, that a fruvegthingy, ice cream is cream i guess so that's essential fats and protein plus vit d i think, health food :P err lunch i can't remember as this was 2 years ago lol. but yeah i struggle with veg, i try0
-
Best way to get veg down if you're a veg hater is to go the veg soup route. Takes 2 / 3 minutes to cook in stock in a pressure cooker and then pulp with a hand blender. Seasoned fresh vegetable soup is a star, I do it all the time. Just need... assorted veg, stock, pressure cooker is handy, hand blender to get flavour out. Nutritious, easy to do and very, very tasty.0
