Ok, well i need a 25.4mm to 29.6mm seatpost shim, but all i can find is 25.0-29.6 (which im asuming wont work) Is there anywhere i can get one?
Need to remove a headset to put onto my new frame (hope) best way to do it?
Also need to remove a US BB, best way to do it again please?
Cheers in advance

BETD might have one, or make you one, as might Hope.
What headset and BB/crank? Headset is really one for the LBS, but you can bodge it with a hammer, screwdriver, and blocks of wood.0 -
Headset is a Hope. Cranks were DMR Cheiftain with a DMR US bb, but it will be replaced by Primo Hollowbites. I might give the headset a go but don't want to destroy it as its fairly new. How much is it likely to cost at an LBS to get it out?0

If you just take the frame in, with the cups still attatched, they might do it on the spot for a tenner or so. As for the cranks I am unfamiliar with them, one of the MBUK dirt jump crew might know more! (or nick!)0

bmx bb tends to need a headset press to fit it. or block of wood and a hammer."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Nick, i need to remove Usually get them in with a block of wood and a hammer fine though0

well just knock the bb out with what ever, read the bb info on parktools one piece creanks.
but the headset i would get done by a shop as the cups are soft. even using a rockect tool i was suprised at the marks left."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I have tried knocking the bb out with a screw driver and hammer, but it doesnt seem to want to come out. Hit harder i asume? Will take the frame to LBS tomorrow and get the headset out, perhaps see if i can get a seatpost shim if they do that size (doubt it)0

you do have to work your way round the cup on the bb."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Gahh getting rather annoyed about the seatpost shim now. I think i shall order the 25.0 - 29.6 in the thermo plastic. Cant see any other option unless i get two cheap ones from Wiggle, a 25.4 - 27.0 and a 27.2 - 29.6?0
-
Two shims? I'm not sure if that's gonna work. Why do you want to use that post? What's so special about it?0
-
Well its been lying around, its a expensive BMX one and i really don't have the money at the moment to dish out on a new one.0
-
I think the 2 shm thing will work. Would probably be a bit tight using a 25.0 mm one0

You have 2 options:
seatpost

or
shim

I think you should go for the seatpost 'cause the shim is harder to find.0 -
If only that dam shim was in the UK. I may order the 25.0 - 29.6 thermo plastic one and give it a bit of sanding. Looks like its the only way for it to be done (unless i get an email soon saying Last do make a seatpost to fit the frame, cheap)
If i were to get a 25.0 - 29.2 in thermo plastic and insert the 25.4 seatpost, would it spread the shim to 29.6? Im asuming as its thermo plastic it wouldn't be too hard?0 -
Yup, tried there (and at 2 Evans shops for bolts/advice). It's the saddle clamp area that's the problem. Can't find any useful info. on various Web searches. It seems most folks just buy a whole new seat clamp assembly- don't wanna do that unless i really have to.Why should i?0
