Anyone up for Ashton Court/Still Woods?

Lots of nice singletrack, XC and DH to be had.

I could make the trip. How are the trains down to Bristol with bikes?

Yeah the trains are fine with bikes, i think if you pre book them then they only cost a quid, or on the small commuter trains they are free, when you get to the train station i can pic you up if you want.

Well that's a plan. This Saturday isn't good for me, but next Sat would be, as long as I could get back to Chelt by about 4ish.

Even better! I'm free all day Sundays. I shall see how the funds are and how the bike is looking. I'll let you know a bit closer to the time for confirmation.

Next sunday is good, I just mangled my knee on a local ride so I couldn't make it tommorow!

DDoogie the trains should be easy, just straight to temple meads. Central/FGW trains have good bike space but virgin trains need reservations, although I've got on one without a reservation before, they just tend to make a fuss.

Nice, where abouts do you ride locally?

I usually go up Kelston hill or if I can be arsed to the back of the uni.

Generally down the back of uni, did a nice ride to longwell green then back up over landsdown. You free in the evenings. What type of riding you like doing?

Downhill mostly but I'm open to most disciplines apart from Street & Dirtjump really. Bikes a bit heavy and low for epic XC routes as well.

I'm free in the evenings from about 5-6pm onwards, enough time to get in a bit of riding while its still light in the summer.

I hate to rain on all your parades but Ashton Court Festival is on next weekend so you won't be able to access the Timberland Trail. You'll be able to go to Still Woods but Ashton Court will be out of commission. The Suspension Bridge will also be out of commission so you'll have to get in via a different route.

May well see you there if I'm not heading to Afan instead.

Well we don't have to stick to bristol, i dont mind driving to cawm carn if we split the cost. or afan, i love freeride but am not very good, so i am well up for that mmm_pie. i'm also free in the evenings after 6 30.

The cwm carn/afan idea sounds ace, I haven't had much experience in the bigger trail centres. Remember Leigh Woods and Still woods will still be open if we were to stick to Bristol.

Ian, we'll have to have a local ride sometime :D my knee is still a bit dodgy from an accident last weekend but it will be fine in a couple of days or so. Do you have msn or anything?

    Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd mention that Ashton Court Festival has moved to the mansion area which means the Timberland Trail wont have so many pi$$heads wondering around.

They have no way of "Closing" the trail as such.

Also I think Leigh Woods is a much better bet than AC.
Especialy if you use the stealth network instead of the Ho Chi Minh.

[EDIT] Just checked and the Timberland Trail remains open to bikes [/EDIT]
I used to be undecided but now I\'m not so sure!?
