Can anybody recomend a good insurance company please. I contacted Cycleguard and was told that because I had two bikes with a value higher than £5000 they could not insure me. They would not even let me have two policies.
Any help would be great.

hmm, I don't know the specific ins and outs of insurance - but might be worth speaking to your household (or maybe travel/car) insurer about getting some extra coverage just for the France trip...

Been looking into this myself recently, cheapest way seems to be house insurance as named items. M&S seem to be the recommended one. any one have any gripes against them?

My house insurance covers my bikes when locked up outside as well as at home, so I guess they may be covered if they we're in a van?

Just be carefull with the small print on the bike specific policies. Two I looked into would not cover the bike unless it was in the house overnight. Pretty pointless if you ask me as that is the time it`s most likely to be nicked. The pros of the bike specific stuff is that it will cover you as a person and not just the bike and will probably cover crash damage as well.
I finally opted for changing the house insurance to Marks & Spencer. The bike is covered up to £4000 but only on my property.

Needless to say - always have a damn good lock and more and make it as awkward as possible to nick in the first place.

Its not while there in the house im worried about. Its when they are in the van or i take them on holiday.

good advice to check the small print.

my house insurer changed the policy not so recently but still took an addiotional premium off me. it was an unrelated matter that got me to check the policy recently. they then charged me for removing the bikes from the policy. (they didnt tell me they'd charge!!), the charge was equal to the refund to the premium i'd paid for no cover......
