I have just purchased a new set of Xero XCR-1 Wheels for my Giant Cadex, i have old Shimano 105 brakes and I dont seem able to adjust the height of the brake block so that it runs fully on the braking surface of the rim, are there calipers available with less height from fixing point?,(i measured the height required about 40 mm)

The calipers over hang the rims to the level of the spokes ?

Most of the more recent Shimano calipers are classed as short reach (49mm), their longer reach ones are 57mm.

Most older road bikes used to have a greater clearances than is the norm now.

Thanks for that, the reach on these is 57 ish mm, the rim is 30 mm deep

Do you know what the dimension is from the fixing point bolt to the upper most adjustment point on the new style shimano brake calipers?

Not sure, I'd imagine the normal reach ones will work fine. Check for fit at your lbs
