Brest, France to Morocco via Spain and Gibraltar..

Hi All,
I have recently set myself the 'small' challenge of cycling from Brest, NW France to Morocco, via West coast france and Spain. A couple of questions:
1) Is it doable?
2) Is it worth going through Portugal when I get to Spain or is the better route through the centre of Spain to Gibraltar?
3) Has anyone here done a similar route before?
I am very new to touring but am looking to do this as a new challenge and to raise money for charity. There's potential that when I get to Morocco moving down into Africa to do some charity work for the week.
