Pyrenees trains to Barcelona

Hi,
does anyone have any information on the train service that runs between Barcelona and Ripoll (at the east end of the Pyrenees)? I know that there's a rail connection, but the information on train times on the Spanish rail (Renfe) site is very poor. The site sporadically recognises Ripoll as a station, but steadfastedly refuses to give out any information on connections, times, etc.

All I really need to know is whether there is a regular service FROM Ripoll to Barcelona, or whether it's a local service that runs every second Friday and has to be hailed for it to stop. I suspect that it's the former - and Ripoll is one of my potential 'escape' routes if I run out of time getting towards Barcelona.

Cheers, Mombee.

The timetable you require is listed in the Cercanias section of Renfe. The train takes about 2 hours to get there. The price of a single ticket is 3.95 euros (zone six).

Go to the home page of Renfe (Spanish version) and click on Nuestros Productos (left hand side of site). Scroll down to and click on Cercanias.
Click on Barcelona. On this page you can access PDF timetables
Horarios La Tour de Carol - L'Hospitales de Llobregat (PDF)
Horarios L'Hospitalet de Llobregat - La Tour de Carol (PDF)

or click on Horarios (times of trains). Enter Barcelona under Origen and Ripoll under Destino. In box labelled (Seleccione tipo dia) choose either Workdays Tuesday to Thursday; or Monday and following public holidays; or Friday; or Saturday; or Sunday & public festivals. Then click on Horarios to see timetables.

    Megilleland,

thanks for that... you're an absolute star... the informaation gives me the last piece of the logistical jigsaw, apart from places to stay the previous three nights, but that's all part of the adventure.

    Thanks again,

    Mombee.
