2 versus 3 bolt cleats

Up to press my bikes have always had two bolt cleat spd style pedals but I recently have bought a fairly posh new pure road bike [as opposed to touring ] and all my roadie mates reckon I would be better off with proper road 3 bolt cleat pedals like look or time.
Do people think it's worth it? I actually have a pair of looks I got with a bike a while ago but would obviously have to buy some shoes that took three bolts.

spds on a best bike .......like driving a bentley on remoulds ;-)

a nice pair of Keos & some nice nu shoes ..you kno wit makes sense

honestly dedicated road shoes are stiffer & hence efficient & the 3 bolts spread load more evenly..

Because of the large cleats, you'll feel far more 'connected' to the bike, your foot will rock less and you're unlikely to suffer from 'hot spots' on your feet.

Whether or not you get hotspots will depend on the rigidity of of your shoe soles rather than the size of the cleats.
