Hi, I have a Sora equipped Specialized Allez Triple, wasn't as fit when I bought it and thought I would need granny ring for Essex's not so very steep hills. Haven't used it once since purchase two years ago. Can I just change the chainset to a double and adjust the triple shifter and front mech so they don't undershift? Would prefer to change group set but funds aren't permitting at the moment. Thanks in advance.

Trying to do 40, trying not to be 40.

why bother ?? just dont use the granny ring [;)] ..or take it of & just lock off the front mech so it cant drop into the gap..

if you were upgrading STIs/mechs etc...then do it all at one go...

you will need at least front mech/new BB/ & i am not sure about sora levers ...

Ok I'm convinced, will keep the triple until I can afford a better groupset, ideally 105. Thanks for the advice guys.

    got 105 on my #2 bike ( DA on #1 ) & it is a fantastic groupset..

if you decide on a compact tho upgrade to the R700.. worth the extra
as is the BB cups . ask shop to upgrade these..

    105 g.set & œ50 on bolt tuning & you are in ultegra territory :-)

    ps stay off the grannyring
