Kurt Kinetic Road Machine - very quiet and lovely smooth action. Doesn't have stepped resistance built in though, you need to use the gears on your bike because the whole idea is that it mimics riding on the road. Don't bother with the associated computer though, they are utter krap - I've had two fail on me in about 6 months and won't be getting any more.

+1 for the Kurt Kinetic, very pleased with it, I use my Polar computer on mine. Another that gets good press is the Minoura Hypermag-1200.0

Don't do it. Joyless. Absolutely joyless.

+1 on Kurt Kinetic. Nothing beats going out on the road, but sometimes it's just the best way to get a quick 1hr workout, specially if you are rain shy like me
I just use my Edge 305 on it, works perfectly.0 -

Wouldn't otherwise contemplate it if it wasn't for the cast and sling I am now wearing due to coming off at the timing mat on the Dragon Ride. I'll be off the bike for a couple of months - as far as road riding is concerned - so I thought it might help to get a turbo trainer so I could keep the legs turning at home.0
