Campag wheel choice
Well, i had my wheels stolen, and have recieved œ300 from the insurance claim.
I have narrowed my choice to:
Campag zonda (259)
Campag neutron (300)
Reynolds alta race (150)
I am quite heavy (84kg) and have destroyed my last pair of bontrager race lites. What do you guys advise? I dont thin i can stretch to the eurus (400). Should i be considering the Xero's or am i too heavy?

I'd rule out the Alta Races, I'm about 80kg and had my second front spoke breakage on Saturday. They've only done about 1200 miles.0

I have no experience of the other two, but I am very impressed with my Neutrons. They are both stiff and comfortable and the bearings are very smooth. They are also very well finished in a rather understated way.

Neutrons have a better spoke layout than the others giving a shorter length of unsupported rim, so may be stronget despite being the lightest wheel on your list.
Where have you seen them for œ300?0 -
I'm about 89Kg and use Zonda's. Probably done about 5-6000 miles without any problems. I will replace them when necessary with another set of Campag wheels.0

Equally, I would rule out the Xeros. Mine were flexy and 5-6 spokes pulled through the rim after 13 months. I weighed 80kg at the time.0

something terrible happened,
I bought the eurus! œ400 for the silver clincher 2006 models.

ZONDA wheels are absolutely bombproof!!, ive recently got a pair and they are fantastic for hill climbing and sprinting on.
Very stiff and a bit harsh.

I vote for Neutrons - excellent wheels.
And have now just seem that you bought Eurus - also good it seems.0 -
correction - i cancelled my order. I didnt realise they are 10speed shimano compatible only (I knew you could put a ten on a 9 hub, but apparatly not the other way round).
I am now considering a pair of bontrager xlites

Pity as the Campag 9 Speed Eurus are ace!
Best upgrade ever for me.0 -
Sounds like a good reason to upgrade to 10sp. My wife has the Eurus and loves them.0

I've used a set of the Neutron's precursors , Nucleons , for a number of years now . I'm up there in weight too , 16+ st. , despite all they've been flawless and have even used'em for a few weight laden , panniered , continental tours . I'm a convert to factory wheels for sure .
Am awaiting delivery of a set of Shamal Ultras ."Lick My Decals Off, Baby"0 -
you can order a 9spd freehub body for campag wheels. give ribble a call or else call the uk campag distributor.
bontrager high end wheels get good reviews so you should be ok there.
stay away from xeros and reynolds if you want durability0 -
Neutrons carried Magnus Backstedt to victory in Roubaix and he is 92 kg in race trim. Get them they are tough enough.Racing is life - everything else is just waiting0

I have ended up buying a set of bontrager x lites, 1490 grams for the set. paid 350 for them from the lbs. Will report back tomorrow after first ride.
Thanks
