I have carbon zipp wheels and have removed punctured tub and theres obviously lots of old glue on rim.
is it best to remove this before gluing again for new tyre or just glue over and wait 24 hours again befoe fitting.
If removal best what gets the glue off?

If the old glue has left a fairly consistent surface, it's worth re-gluing and using that. If it's patchy and bare to the rim in places, I'd clean it and start again - I always take the view this is too important to cut corners and mess around with.

On my Corima and Navigator CF track rims, I use white spirit (and lots of elbow grease! [:D]) to remove the worst of the old glue and then use acetone as the final non-greasy clean and prep for new glue.

Try cheap nail varnish remover from Boots etc. Check the ingredients, but most are acetone based.

    All the best,

You can get pure acetone from the pharmacy counter at Boots - you have to ask for it. The only problem is the bottles are very small and relatively expensive for the quantity you get. You'll need a couple of bottles to get started. The big problem with all/most nail varnish removers is that they are perfumed and/or contain some other unwanted substance such as moisturiser. (Can you tell I've researched this?!? [:D])

The best way to buy acetone is in "bulk" if you have any connections to anyone in the beauty salon business. A 4 litre container of it cost approx œ14 IIRC whereas a 50ml bottle from Boots is œ1.95.

Only when the vodka runs out! [:D][8D]

It was the smallest bulk quantity I could buy through my contact - should last me for a few years though!
