Thinking of having myself a week away somewhere. Can anybody recommend a nice area to cycle in. preferably somewhere with campsites and a country pub. Getting bored of cycling the same roads. Live in Newcastle upon Tyne so looking top get out of northumberland.

all suggestions appreciated. cheers

  • ride up the coast seahouses, banborough castle, up to Edinburgh, then down a different way.
do the C2C the "wrong" way, or the Hadrian Wall route
    Yorkshire moors, Redcar Whitby,Scarborough

in fact anywhere, just get out and ride.

It's more about.... what you would like?

  • I was going to say 'try Northumberland', then I put my reading specs on. If you're cycling out, heading this way would be a nice trip... and you could always hop on a train and get out quick once you'd arrived!

Head over to France, treat yourself to some nicely surfaced and relatively car free roads.

  • it's nice round settle. theres a campsite at stainforth a couple of miles from settle on the banks of the ribble next to the waterfall. the pub is in the village but it's about 3/4 of a mile away.you've then got rides in the dales, round malham or round hawes dent and garsdale, or out to the coast via roeburndale round lancaster, or over the fell roads of bowland knotts or tatham fell into the ribble valley.bottom end of the lakes isn't too far away on minor roads.

I agree with Piedwagtail - the campsite's really nice (fab loos) and the dales are gorgeous.

If you fancy underwater cycling you could try near where i live (Rotherham). Just watch out for the cars floating down the roads/rivers.

Just down the road in North Yorkshire, nearly on your doorstep and you don't get much better.

    Newcastle, gateway to the World!
Jump on a ferry to Ijmuiden and do a circuit of Ijsselmeer.

Spain. Best country to cycle tour in imho. Lots of bars and tapas. But not many pubs.

Try Norfolk, Suffolk and the Broads.
