Good news....

I am of touring next week

Bad news..................

I have just seen the cycle path of the Trans-Pennine Trail on the BBC website, and it's under several feet of water!

Anyone got a waterbike going I can borrow for a week or so?

Look on the bright side - at least you are not touring this week. [:)]
Hopefully the rain will have mostly gone by this time next week.

A Shuttle Bike kit would be a bit less unwieldy on the dry bits of the track - packs down into a backpack (12.5kg). Apparently someone managed to cross the Channel on one once.

It was cracking the flags a couple of weeks ago along there, grass snake and slow-worm basking on the baking trail. You don't want to hear that though do you?[:D]

If you see an overladen Street Machine with a red trailer, or a strange bearded <s>gentleman</s> person in the Peels Arms - do say hello!

Will definately say hello if you're spotted [:)]

The trail was closed near Doncaster for Bridge repairs just East of where it goes under the A1(M). There is a flight of steps which are best avoided with your wheels and trailer - might be best to nip through Sprotborough and Richmong Hill.
If going on the Thurgoland route choice - Great echoes in the tunnel!

The trail is actually quite dry along here now considering.

The section from Hornsea to Hull wasnt too bad.
A few trees down in places, but access on soft verges past.
Only bad spot for water was Whitedale, a long stretch approx 50m & upto 18" deep, came over my overshoes [:(]
& the underpass by Drypool Police Stn was anything but a drypool. About 5-6' deep so that was avoided.
