Dumbass questions on touring shoes if I may

I was thinking of buying these shoes:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=cycle&ProdID=5360021876&N=Adidas%20Cycling%20Cyclone%20Shoes
I like the idea of only having to take one pair of shoes on a trip to save weight.
My questions are:
1) Can overshoes be worn with this type of shoe in the rain? If so which type?
2) It says they are not compatible with caged spd pedals. I am thinking of getting some spd pedals but i have no clue what a 'caged' spd peddle is...what is the difference?
3)would you buy differently? If so what.
These need to be good for 2 week trips involving camping, so they will be worn on muddy campsites

caged spd pedals are spd pedals with a cage around them. These would be caged:

these would be uncaged:

I reckon you're right, but then I have been wrong [;)]
Those shoes should be fine with most "commuter" or mountain bike overshoes - these look good:

I've got these overshoes which should also be ok - they've lasted really well:

I have 2 pairs of Specialized Taho's - very comfy, looks like a trainer/hillwalking shoe, and is good with SPDs
Have you thought about SPD sandals? These plus a light pair of flip flops could be ideal for the summer. I wore mine for a week in Spain and they were great

i would recommend a touring shoe with the three velco straps rather than laces.
Much easier to get in and out and also more comfortable.

My specialized Taho's now have elastic lock laces for triathlon, with the single velcro strap - perfect

..thanks for clearing that up for me chaps. I will probablt get these and those neoprene over shoes, only thing is my big feet may make the overshoes an issue.. I have UK12/13 depending on make.
but then again these do look good as well dont they..
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=cycle&ProdID=5360019594
and they are cheaper and they have the velcro strap suggested...and they come in a larger size...hmm...

I have a pair of those and only use them around town. I wished I'd gone for these instead: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.a ... 5360028357
