Cycle helmet

I was told that once a helmet has impact, say with the ground, you really need to get a new one, am I right?

    depends on the nature of the impact .... i guess if it slipped out of your hand and hit the floor you should be fine to carry on using it. However if you have fallen off your bike and hit your head with a decent amount of force then yes you really should replace it. Because of the nature of the material it can crack internally but not show any outward signs of damage ...then next time you fall off the helmet would not offer the same protection due to it being structurally weaker.
