I am currently suffering from Achilles Tendonitis the doctor has prescribed Anti-inflammatory tablets and Ibuleve and told me to use ice packs as well all of these are hopefully going to reduce the swelling so can i ride my bike on club runs or is it better to rest it for a while.

Personally I would rest it for a while.

The general rule is that if you can feel it getting sore on a ride then you need to stop. Might not be wise to embark on a long ride - try some short rides to see how it responds. If it is quite swollen, a couple of days rest is probably in order.
Eccentric ankle drops are often very helpful to rehabilitate the Achilles (stand on a step on tip toes and slowly lower your weight until the heel is as low as it will comfortably go - discontinue if it hurts). Rehab follows rest though.
Personally I would not ride after using Ibuleve / anti-inflams as you won't feel the warning signs and you could make the injury worse. Maybe ice then ride or maybe just rest it depending on how bad it is.

i suffered a ruptured achilles tendon last november, was on my rollers 2 weeks after surgery, albeit at a very gentle pace , so of all sports, cycling is fairly ok, but my advice is to rest for about two weeks, its not worth the risk, it set me back 6 months0
