Crank nut keeps coming off
I've got a really crap commute bike and the other day the left crank came off as the nut had worked so loose. Anyway to cut a long story short, got the bike home later on, replaced nut and tightened up as much as I could with a crank spanner. Next day, on the way to the station, same thing happens.
Any ideas why it's coming loose ? Any tips for a remedy ? Time for a new bike ?

Dom,
Thanks. Yeah, I did think along those lines. Frankly it's not as if I'm gonna want to remove the cranks at some later date. If the BB goes, then it's down the tip for this baby.

If it's got loose and you have continued to ride on it then it is almost certain the threads will have worn/been damaged and it's likely that thread-lock would not suffice to keep it tight.
If the bike is of disposable value, do it up as tight as you can and weld it.
