Hope kit on Cotic Roadrat

My Cotic Roadrat came with Hope headset and crown race. The first problem was that the expander bung was too narrow to lock into the steel Roadhog fork so I replaced it with a star fangled washer, with much cursing and sweating to get it seated level[}:)].

Second problem: The fork was recalled by Cotic because of failures and a replacement, heavier steel fork arrived. Unfortunately I sent back the old fork with the crown race still attached[:I]. Then I decided to upgrade to a lighter Planet X Full carbon Cross fork[8D]. Now I need a new Hope crown race: I guess I need to order it direct from Hope unless anyone knows an internet shop that sells them separately? Will I also need a special tool to seat it onto the fork crown?

Third problem: the expanding bung is too wide[:(!] for the Planet X fork so can anyone recommend a different brand that would fit? FSA has been suggested. I would prefer not buy a complete new headset and start again.

Second problem - Drop Cy a line - he may well still have the forks in his garage, if not he should be able to sort you out with a new crown race. (he's off at mountain mayhem this weekend and on holiday next week so don't expect an immediate reply)

Technically you need a special tool. Alternatively an appropriately sized bit of tube will do the job (make sure the business end is *properly* square though)

Planet X (I believe) do a bung to match their forks.

(oh and with reference to the first problem - Ice Toolz do a SFN fitting tool for a tenner. It's worth every penny even if you only ever fit one with it. Makes it literally a 5 sec job to get in square)
