I usually use a light cotton head cover thingy (not quite a Pirate bandana) under my helmet. Not really happy with it BUT, first time something large crawled around inside a compromise had to be found [:0]
Just heard a club member was stung by a wasp on his head. The shock of the pain caused the off which broke his arm [xx(]
Anyone know if some kind of mesh net is available to stretch over the helmet to stop the ingress of the unwanted in the first place. I am not convinced my existing comforter is wasp arse proof [;)]

giro have mesh covering the front vents for just that purpose. on their kids' helmets

if i had a better signature, i'd use that instead

Cheers. It is a worry - we have hornets the size of sparrows over here, and a broken arm will stop me riding [:0]
I have tried the conventional cap under despite it looking ridiculous but it is just too hot and uncomfortable. Perhaps a kid's lid my size would be a marginal aesthetic improvement but some kind of purpose built hairnet type of thing - maybe with a Windstopper Bugstopper label to satisfy the posers - would probably sell well [:)]
May experiment with the gusset of the wife's tights superglued to the vents of my old lid......watch this space, or CNN...

I have come across quite a few cheap helmets with an insect grille at the front - I don't know which brands whill have them now though (my wife used to have a Bell helmet with one). It is a feature that seems more common on the cheap helmets.

Are they a nice helmet? The price is good compared to others have to say.

SIZE IS EVERYTHING! or at least that's what my LBS tells me.

you can just stretch a ladies stocking over the helmet, a fine 10 denier mesh in the largest size available will go over and you can tuck the extra away under a strap or behind the padding somewhere. not elegent but cheaper than a new helmet.
