Has anyone else had this with their TCR? It is driving me nuts! Changed the forks twice, still squeaking!
If anyone has any ideas then they would be most welcome.

My squeaking was caused my nothing more serious than the metal thingies on the gear cable outers rubbing against their housings at the front of the down tube. Two drops of oil shut them up.
  • I fed mine some cheese. now no more squeak

  • squeaking or creaking..??

Mine was creaking from the front last week, took out the forks, greased up the bearings and stuck it all back together...cured.

Possibly the headset bearings moving in the headtube or due to an over-tight front wheel QR. For the bearings, either grease them or use something like Loctite Bearing Fit which holds them in place and stops them moving. For creaks, also look at the mating surfaces on forks/stem/bars

There seems to be quite a few comments about Giant TCR/SCR's and like you I have several squeaks and creaks.
As pw1brown my Giant TCR Hybrid has a click on the gear cable guides when the 'bars are turned - oiled it - Bingo.
Then a creak from the Aheadstem on the Carbon steerer when riding uphill out of the saddle - greased it Bingo.
Thirdly a creak from the Bottom Bracket area (painful and annoying)all the usual things checked, but I'm sure it's where the Carbon chain stays meet the B/B shell so I sprayed the area with silicon oil which seems to have done the job.
So that's 3 Bingos on my TCR.

I'm sure it's with the hot dry weather we've been having drying out the Carbon interface areas and contact points.
  • Might be stating the obvious, and it might be different on TCR's, but here we go anyway. There's a squeak from the front of my SCR when turning the wheel very slowly. It seems to be something to do with the rubber dust seals (or whatever they are) at the sides of the hub. Presume these are to keep crud out of the bearings. I suppose they could squeak quite badly if they're really dry and a bit dirty. If it sounds like it's coming from there, maybe greasing the edges of these might fix the problem? Haven't tried on mine yet as I've only had it a week and it doesn't bother me yet.
    Cheers,
    Dave.
