Sirrus Comp v Sirrus Elite - which one?
Am due to look at each of these tomorrow evening and have looked at the minor differences in the spec being (comp over elite):-
Headset
Stem
Handlebars
Rims
Hubs
As I am planning to use the bike for fitness/leisure is it really worth paying an extra 100 quid for the Elite over the Comp?
They both look great bikes and all the comme ts on here seem to really talk the Sirrus range up.
Cheers

Personally, I'd go for the best you can afford.
I presume that if you did the upgrades yourself afterwards then it would cost you more than œ100.

Go for the Comp ... you know you want to really!!! [:D][:D][:D]
Anyway, looking at the specs on the Spesh site, the Comp has these features over the Elite:
Frame: FACT carbon seatstays w/ Zertz inserts
Fork: alloy threadless steerer
Stem: Comp-Set, 4- position adjustable
Bars: Body Geometry Event Zertz
Front brake: replaceable cartridge pad
Rear brake: replaceable cartridge pad
Rims: Jalco GX460
Front hub: 24 hole, straight pull spokes
Rear hub: 28 hole, straight pull spokes
Up to you whether they're worth œ100 - I suppose the real test will be riding them!

I have the 2007 Comp and love it!!
I actually ordered the elite model as I didn't want to spend that extra money for the next model up. As it was, LBS couldn't get an elite model for ages, so offered me a comp with 10% off making it only œ540 instead of œ600.
Never looked back - love it and ride it everyday and like it even more each day.

Have the sirrus comp myself - however its 2003 model and it still going strong. Quick and comfortable. Like a lot of people on hybrids who are on the road quite a bit you do get to the stage where you start to think about getting a road bike and it is only because of how good this is that I haven't bothered yet. Can't answer on whether their is much benefit in moving up to it or not as I took the view when I was buying that I would spend as much as I could afford and take the little bit of a performance increase gained by doing so.0

I have a 2007 Elite and enjoy using it.
My budget didn't stretch to the Comp, in fact I was only going to get the normal Sirrus but noticed the difference in tyres and mechs so changed my mind the night before and ordered the Elite. Your LBS should be able to give you a good discount as mine did and obviously others have had. I really didnt see the difference for me to go any higher in the range then the Elite. I think if you do plenty of riding you need to get the best you can afford.FCN 100 -
As with "A - W", was going to go for the base model, but rode the Elite, and preferred it. The LBS did me a very good deal on the price with accessories. The Comp didn't seem to offer œ100 extra in terms of riding experience for me (partly no doubt because the bike I tested with a size too small), and I was a little (probably unjustly) worried about adding a rack to carbon seat stays.
This time of year, Specialized are running down their '07 model stock levels, so you *may* find it difficult to find the exact model you want in your size.
FWIW the LBS told me that the Elite has been very popular this year with the price reduction compared with the '06.

Well, bought the Sirrus Comp tonight and although I have only ridden round the block I love it already. For a 'hybrid' it seems remarkably fast and light. I am really looking forward to getting it set up as I want then taking it out at the weekend.
I got a great deal too. Didnt know til I got there but my employer has an arrangement with the shop whereby I got 10% off an already discounted price. I got the Comp for less than the standard price of the Elite. Bargain!!

At that price it would be rude not to!
Congratulations on your fine choice, and hope you have many happy years with her!

You got it for less than the Elite ... now that is a bargain! [:D]
Now your only problem is not to get too carried away with the speed. Be gentle on those other poor souls who are grinding along on their heavy MTB's as you go swishing past on your speed machine!
Seriously though, they're a great bike and you'll get lots of pleasure from it I'm sure. [:)]

Thanks to all who replied. I have been off this afternoon and been setting it up how I want to. I have taken off the supplied tyres and stuck on my Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700 x 28c which may just take a second off the speed but will be pretty bomb proof too.
Just need to get out and ride now [:)][:)]
